Swatching My Collection: Blues and Greens Part IV

Wet N Wild: Sagreena the Teenage Witch
Wet N Wild: Sagreena the Teenage Witch
This is a great green metallic.  Th color applies nicely, but it is definitely sheer.  You need all three coats to build up a opaque color.

Essie: Mesmerize
Essie: Mesmerize
This is a wonderful darker mid-tone blue.  It applies nicely and could have worked with only two coats.  Essie polishes has always worn quite nicely as well, for me at least.

Sinful Colors: Innocent
Sinful Colors: Innocent
This is a great fun and bright color.  This is  definitely perfect for the summer and spring.  If you aren't sure about color in your collection give this a try.  As with all Sinful Colors, it's an affordable investment.

Sinful Colors: Bamboo
Sinful Colors: Bamboo
This is one of my favorite SC shades.  It's a great aqua green type color with a wonderful shimmer.  It applies wonderfully and I could have probably gotten away with two coats.  I think this color is perfect for spring and summer.
Revlon: Royal
Revlon: Royal
This color is unique to say the least.  It's a great royal blue and at three coats, it looks pretty great.  I'm not a huge fan of jelly polishes because they can be a little hard to apply.  The color is awesome, especially layered with glitter but just be ready for a little different experience when applying.

Zoya: Charla
Zoya: Charla
This was my very first Zoya polish and for obvious reason.  This color is magical.  It reminds me of mermaids.  The perfect green/blue shimmer with gold flecks.  This is a shad I mainly only wear in the summer but it could be worn all year round.  The application of Zoya Shimmers is usually pretty sheer at first, but three coats and it looks amazing.

So, that rounds it up!  Those are all of my current blue and green polishes.  Next I will be moving on to my glitters.  Those are my favorite.

What colors would you suggest in the blue/green category?

NOTD: Kleancolor Holo Chrome

So, I got a great package of nail mail from my pal the other day and this beauty was inside.  I have never tried Kleancolor, but if this is any indication then I will be needing some more very soon.  Look how beautiful this shade is, given the picture was taken on my phone's camera.  It's #94, Holo Chrome.  A beautiful micro glitter purple with a great holographic shine.  It looks great both indoors and out.  After looking over the website it looks like they are $3.49! That's amazing for a color like this.
Kleancolor: Holo Chrome
Kleancolor: Holo Chrome

From here on out I will be doing collection swatch posts along with posts like these and updates on new products as they come. For now, I am getting ready for the premiere of the new seasons of Shameless and Californication.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Finger Paints: Special Effects Collection

Finger Paints: Special Effects Collection
Finger Paints: Special Effects Collection
Left to Right: Flashy, Twisted, Flecked, Asylum and Motley

Finger Paints just released 5 flakies in Sally's Beauty Supply stores.  This polishes do amazing things to whichever color they are applied over.  Obviously, they tend to stand out a bit more over dark colors but you can still use them over light ones as well.

Finger Paints: Twisted
Twisted
This is the one with the most colors. At any give time you can see orange, red, green or blue.
Finger Paints: Flashy
Flashy
This color reminds me of fire.  It is primarily red and orange.
Finger Paints: Asylum
Asylum
This color is interesting because it not only has the red and orange of Flashy but there is also a great blue fleck in the mix.
Finger Paints: Motley
Motley
Motley reminds me of peacock feathers with the great green and blue flecks together.
Finger Paints: Flecked
Flecked
Flecked has a great green fleck that is bright and fun.

Swatching My Collection: Blues and Greens Part III

Wet N Wild: Ocean Grotto
Wet N Wild: Ocean Grotto
This color was a disappointment to me.  Not to say that the color that comes out of the bottle is not gorgeous.  In fact, it's very nice.  It's just not what I expected when I picked up the bottle. In the bottle it looks quite a bit more green, whereas on the nail it shows more toward gold. It's a great shimmer though and I feel it can be worn throughout spring and summer.
LA Girl: Matte Alpine Green
LA Girl: Matte Alpine Green
This color is very special.  It is an amazing blue green.  I particularly love it because I like to wear it on Eagles Game Day. I love the matte look to the color because it really highlights the color well. It's definitely one of a kind for me.

China Glaze: Blue Sparrow
China Glaze: Blue Sparrow
This color is an amazing bright blue shimmer.  It is a neon color so it will dry flat.  This color is another unlike any in my collection. It would look great with a tan and can be worn throughout spring and summer.

China Glaze: Glittering Garland
China Glaze: Glittering Garland
This color was really hard for me to photograph. It is showing up a smidge darker than it really is. When I saw this color in the Let it Snow collection I knew it had to be mine.  It's the perfect holiday green. It gives off a really great green and gold shimmer on the dark green base.  If you can still get your hands on this, I would say definitely add this to your collection for next year.

Icing: True Blue
Icing: True Blue
A true baby blue color.  This color would be great for spring and summer as well.  It is the perfect blue pastel cream.  As you can see, the above picture is three coats and still streaky. You will have to work with it a little, but if you are looking for a great baby blue then this is it.
Color Club: Masquerading
Color Club: Masquerading
This color is an interesting metallic grey blue.  I love it because it's dark without being overwhelming.  It reminds me of a bluer version of Chanel's Black Pearl.  It applies nicely and the coverage is perfect at three coats.
OPI: Green-wich Village
OPI: Green-wich Village
This is my all time favorite green nail polish.   It is actually the first green I ever bought.  It just is the perfect spring green color.  It can be worn all spring and summer without issue and people always compliment the color because as basic as it seems it is really unique.  The formula is interesting because it almost applies like a jelly. You definitely need at least three maybe four coats.
China Glaze: In The Lime Light
China Glaze: In The Lime Light
This is an amazing summer color.  It's a bright neon green that totally pops on a any skin tone.  My only gripe with this color is, like many neons, it does take quite a few coats to cover your nail line.  This one was three coats and the nail line is pretty clear.  Either way, if you are looking for a bright green it is worth the extra coats.
LA Girl: Vinyl Record
LA Girl: Vinyl Record
This color is interesting because the color itself is not super unique to my collection, but it does have an cool effect: it will glow under a blacklight.  I actually tested this on Halloween night while passing candy out to kids.  It worked rather well.
Sinful Colors: Envy
Sinful Colors: Envy
Green with Envy.  It's a great dark green, perfect year round I would say.  The application was great and once again I am impressed with Sinful Colors.  For 1.99 the quality is hard to beat.
Sally Hansen: Mint Sorbet
Sally Hansen: Mint Sorbet
This is, in my opinion (and this is my blog, so who else's would it be?), the best mint green on the market.  First, the color is gorgeous in the bottle. Second, it applies true to color.  Third, you could almost get away with one coat.  I love the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear formulas that I have because all of them seem apply super opaque in one coat.  This color is great all year round.
Sinful Colors: Why Not
Sinful Colors: Why Not
This is a super bright blue, like smurf blue.  The color isn't super unique but it definitely stands out.  It's the perfect shade of candy blue and would look great with tan skin.

NOTD 12/23/2011

Just wanted to do a quick update here during the holidays.  I will have two more swatch sets for the greens/blues, but that will happen after the holiday.

Nail of the Day
Essie: Shine of the Times layered over China Glaze: Grape Juice

Anyway, I love this look.  Big fan of flakies after trying this.  I just happened to run across this in Fred Meyer by chance.  It really changes the look of any polish you put it over.
Well, enjoy folks. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

Swatching My Collection: Blues and Greens Part II

Sinful Colors: Seaweed
Sinful Colors: Seaweed
Sinful Colors dupe for OPIs Stranger Tides.  This color is the perfect murky green.  It's great for fall and has amazing coverage.  I could have easily gotten away with two coats.  Coming in at $2.00 per bottle, Sinful Colors is a great deal.
China Glaze: Watermelon Rind
China Glaze: Watermelon Rind
This shade is a dead ringer for that favorite summer treat. The shimmer is very fine and creates a great effect in the light.  This is part of the permanent collection from China Glaze and should be available wherever CG is sold.  It's a unique one that everyone should own.

Island Girl: Big Island Volcano
Island Girl: Big Island Volcano
The perfect turquoise with a slight shimmer.  It does tend to dry matte, so you will want to add a top coat if you prefer the shine.  This brand has a great selection of colors, including this one.  I have only been able to find it in ABC stores in Las Vegas so each time I'm there I pick one or two up.  As with many brights, the wear is not the best but a good top coat helps to extend that.
China Glaze: Up all Night
China Glaze: Up All Night
The perfect navy shimmer.  This color has great coverage and is amazing for fall. It is also part of the permanent collection and pretty easy to get your hands on.  If you are looking for a great color for fall, pick this up.
Milani: Cyberspace
Milani: Cyberspace
I love a good holographic glitter.  I wish I could say I loved this one.  As a shimmer polish this one is great, but as a holographic it is a little disappointing.  Don't let it discourage you from others you may be able to get your hands on because the rest of the collection was better.
Color Club: Sheer Disguise
Color Club: Sheer Disguise
The perfect grey blue. I don't have many colors like this in my collection. The shade is a pretty transitional one that you can wear all throughout the year. The coverage was just right at three coats.
OPI: Mermaid's Tears
OPI: Mermaid's Tears
A good sea foam green and great color for spring.  I never thought I  would like a color like this, but it really does stand out as unique. . The coverage was great at two coats and easy to apply, thanks to the OPI Pro-Wide brush.
It is limited edition from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection, but you still may be able to get your paws on it.
China Glaze: Electric Pineapple
China Glaze: Electric Pineapple
This shade was part of the limited edition Island Escapes summer collection. I will be honest, it was not my favorite.  In the bottle it looks to be a very cool bright yellow green.  On my nails is just looks sickly.  It may be my skin tone, so you may want to try it yourself. The coverage on this was really great though and a dream to apply.
Wet N Wild: Nerds Need Love Too
Wet N Wild: NERDS Need Love Too
NERDS, perfect for this blog.  The color is the perfect sky blue.  At 99 cents, it was also a great bargain.  The coverage was perfect after three coats and it was easy to apply.  This color isn't something I would wear ona regular basis but it is fun for a great pop of color.

Swatching My Collection: Blues and Greens Part I

I decided to start swatching my collection in the blue/green family. Below are the ones I have started on. Pardon my nails. I've been moving so it has taken a toll on them. More to come soon!

Sally Hansen: Barracuda
Starting with Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure: Barracuda!
This is by far my favorite line of Sally Hansen because the colors seem to be so rich and they last quite long. This is the perfect shade of Robin's Egg Blue, IMO.

Sinful Colors: Night of Barbados
Sinful Colors: Night of Barbados
This color has duochrome tendencies but they are not too exciting on the nail.  You can see the dark blue and teal type colors here. It is three coats in this photo and still pretty sheer.

Zoya: Ivanka
Zoya: Ivanka
Bright and vibrant green shimmer.  I loved all of the colors in the summer shimmer collection this past year.
At three coats it covered fairly well. I love these because they don't feel gritty at all even without a top coat.

Wet N Wild: Gray's Anatomy
Wet N Wild: Gray's Anatomy
Another duochrome.  You can slightly see the hints of green coming through but on the nail it mostly just looks like a purplish gray. Three coats still left it pretty sheer though.
China Glaze: For Audrey
China Glaze: For Audrey
The cult favorite of many nail polish nerds out there. This shad is just as the color implies, the perfect shade of Tiffany blue.  I could have gotten away with just two coats, but for consistency went for three.
Cosmetic Arts: Wild Child
Cosmetic Arts: Wild Child
This color was super interesting when I saw it in the store. I had never really seen a color like it.  It's a great jungle green, which explains the name "Wild Child." I wish I was as wild about the coverage as the color though.  Three coats and I can still see my nail line.  I've only been able to find this brand at Fred Meyer stores and if you have one I would suggest checking it out if only for the color selection.
Zoya-Breezi
Zoya: Breezi
This is an amazing cornflower blue color from Zoya's summer collection.  I love the purple tones it brings to the table with it. Definitely not your average blue and not something I had in my collection prior to purchasing it.
